Xu Xiaofei's Football Journey
Early Life and Move to Japan
Xu Xiaofei grew up in Zhengzhou, a city in the Henan province of China. When he was 10 years old, his mother moved with him to Japan. He continued his education and sports training there. He later graduated from a university in Japan, focusing on physical education.
Playing Football in Japan
Xu Xiaofei started his professional football career in Japan. In 2005, he joined Consadole Sapporo, a team in the J. League's second division. His time there was short, and he soon moved to Kamatamare Sanuki. This team played in the fourth-tier Japanese Regional Leagues.
At Kamatamare Sanuki, Xu Xiaofei got more chances to play. His skills caught the attention of teams in the third division. He then played for Gainare Tottori and later Mitsubishi Mizushima FC. While he gained experience, these moves were not as successful as he might have hoped.
Returning to China and Retirement
In 2009, Xu Xiaofei decided to return to China. He joined his hometown team, Henan Construction. This team played in the Chinese Super League, which is the top football league in China. He played for them during the second half of the 2009 season.
After the 2009 league season, Xu Xiaofei had a medical check-up. Doctors found that he had a heart condition called cardiac arrhythmia, which means his heart beat irregularly. Because of this health issue, he announced that he had to stop playing professional football. He shared this news on his blog.
After some time away from the professional game, Xu Xiaofei later returned to play for Minami Club in Japan.
