Ya Ding (Chinese: 亚丁) is a talented writer and translator from China, born in 1959. He is known for writing books in French and for bringing French stories to Chinese readers.
Ya Ding's Early Life
Ya Ding grew up in a small village in northern China. After finishing his high school studies, he worked as a farmer. This was part of a big movement in China called the Down to the Countryside Movement. During this time, many young people like Ya Ding were sent to live and work in the countryside.
From Farmer to Writer
After a period of big changes in China known as the Cultural Revolution, Ya Ding went on to do new things. He helped start the very first student magazine at the University of Beijing. This was an exciting time for him. He also began to translate books by French authors into Chinese, helping people in China discover new stories and ideas from France.
Awards and Recognition
Ya Ding has received several important awards for his writing. These awards show how much his work is appreciated.
- 1988: He won the Prix Cazes for his book Le Sorgho rouge.
