Yaakov Agmon (Hebrew: יעקב אגמון) was an important Israeli theater producer, manager, and director. He was born on June 24, 1929, and passed away on December 16, 2020. He helped create and lead many famous theaters in Israel.

About Yaakov Agmon
Yaakov Agmon grew up in Tel Aviv, Israel. When he was young, he was a member of the Hashomer Hatzair youth movement. Later, he moved to a Kibbutz called Harel. There, he helped plan and organize many events for the kibbutz community.
Yaakov Agmon was married to the famous Israeli actress Gila Almagor. He passed away on December 16, 2020, at the age of 91.
His Work in Theater and Media
Yaakov Agmon started his career in the mid-1950s. From 1956 to 1958, he worked as a director for the youth section of the United Jewish Appeal. He also wrote for a weekly magazine called Rimon.
In 1958, Agmon became the general director of the Cameri Theatre. He held this important job for four years. After that, in 1962, he went to study in the United States. He also worked as an advisor for the America Israel Cultural Foundation.
Creating New Theaters
Yaakov Agmon loved creating new places for theater. In 1964, he started the Bimot Theatre. Later, in 1978, he founded the Beit Lessin Theater. These theaters became very important parts of Israeli culture.
Radio Host
Beyond theater, Agmon also worked in radio. Starting in 1968, he hosted a weekly talk show. The show was called She'elot Ishiyot and aired on Israel Army Radio.
Leading Habima Theatre
In 1995, Agmon took on a big challenge. He became the general and artistic director of the Habima Theatre. This was Israel's national theater. He worked there until 2005.
Later Work
In 2010, Yaakov Agmon became the general manager of the Arabic-Hebrew theater of Jaffa. He continued to work in theater for many years.
Awards and Special Recognition
Yaakov Agmon received an important award in 2007. He was given the Israeli theater award for his life's work. This award recognized all his contributions to theater in Israel.
