Yadollah Sharifirad (Persian: یدالله شریفیراد) was born on March 24, 1946, in Taleqan, Iran. He is a famous Iranian former fighter pilot and a writer. In 1978, he was part of the Golden Crown aerobatic team. This team performed amazing flying stunts!
During the Iran–Iraq War, Sharifirad became one of Iran's most successful pilots. He flew the Northrop F-5 jet. He was incredibly skilled, shooting down five enemy fighter planes. These included one Su-22 and four MiG-21s.
In one air raid on an Iraqi power station, three enemy fighters attacked him. His plane was shot down. He safely ejected from the plane. Brave Iraqi Kurdish groups helped him return to Iran. A movie called Eagles was made about this exciting event.
Life After Flying
Military Service and Later Life
From 1984 to 1987, Sharifirad worked as a military representative in Pakistan. In 1987, he was asked to return to Iran. After his return, he faced serious accusations and was held for a time before being set free. Sharifirad later moved to Canada.
Writing His Story
In 2010, Sharifirad wrote a book called Flight of a Patriot. This book tells the story of his life. It covers his early years, his time as a pilot in the Iran-Iraq War, and his experiences after the war. The book also shares his journey to Canada.
