Santiago ("Yago") Lamela Tobío (born July 24, 1977 – died May 8, 2014) was a talented Spanish athlete. He was best known for his amazing skills in the long jump event.

His most successful year was 1999. During the indoor season, he made an incredible jump of 8.56 meters. This jump earned him a silver medal at the World Indoor Championships. Later that same year, he jumped 8.56 meters outdoors. He won another silver medal at the World Championships. His 8.56-meter indoor jump was a European record for ten years!

Yago Lamela faced some health challenges later in his life. He passed away on May 8, 2014, at the age of 36.
