Yana Alekseyevna Churikova (Russian: Яна Алексеевна Чурикова; born 6 November 1978) is a famous Russian journalist and television host. She first worked at MTV Russia. Later, she moved to Channel One. There, she hosted seven seasons of the popular talent show Star Factory.
Her Career in Television
Yana Churikova became well-known across Europe and the world. This was because she presented the results of the Russian public vote at the Eurovision Song Contest for many years. The Eurovision Song Contest is a big international music competition.
Yana was supposed to host the Eurovision Song Contest 2009. This event was held in Moscow, Russia. However, she announced she was expecting a baby soon. Because of this, she only hosted the special drawing event. This draw decided which countries would compete in which semi-final. Her daughter, Taisa Lazareva, was born on May 26, 2009. This was just ten days after the Eurovision final.
From 2009 to 2021, Yana Churikova often provided commentary for the Eurovision Song Contest. She did this for Channel One. She also hosted the national final in Russia. This show helped choose Russia's song for the Eurovision Song Contest 2021.
