Yancowinna County is a special area in New South Wales, Australia. It is one of 141 such areas called cadastral divisions. These divisions are like old land maps that help describe where properties are located.

This county is home to the city of Broken Hill and the village of Silverton. You can also find smaller places like Wallarunga (also known as The Pinnacles) and Burns here. Some places, like Tarrawingee and Purnamoota, are now ghost towns, meaning they were once busy but are now mostly empty.

Yancowinna County is unique in a few ways. For example, some laws about work in New South Wales do not apply here. Also, it is the only part of New South Wales that shares its time zone with South Australia. This means it is half an hour behind the rest of New South Wales.

The name Yancowinna comes from a word used by the local Aboriginal people. There is also a place called Yancowinna Glen within the county.
