Yanxi Liu's Journey in Computer Science
Early Education and Advanced Degrees
Yanxi Liu studied at Beijing Normal University in China. She earned her first degree there. Later, she moved to the United States. She got her Ph.D. from the University of Massachusetts Amherst in 1990. Her special project for her Ph.D. was about how robots can use symmetry to build things.
Working at Top Universities
After her Ph.D., she did more research in France and at Rutgers University. In 1993, she started teaching at the University of Massachusetts Amherst. Then, in 1996, she joined the Robotics Institute at Carnegie Mellon University. She worked there for ten years. After that, she moved to Pennsylvania State University. She is now a professor there.
