History of Yarnell's Ice Cream
The Angel Food Brand Connection
A company called Klinke Brothers Ice Cream Company in Memphis, Tennessee used to make a popular ice cream called "Angel Food." This ice cream was special because it wasn't slushy like many others at the time.
In 2006, Klinke Brothers stopped making Angel Food ice cream. They decided to let Yarnell's make it instead. The Angel Food brand was very popular in Tennessee, Mississippi, and parts of Kentucky. Klinke Brothers then focused more on their Baskin Robbins ice cream shops.
Changes in Ownership
On June 30, 2011, the Yarnell Ice Cream Company stopped making ice cream. However, a few months later, in November 2011, a company from Chicago called Schulze & Burch Biscuit Co. bought Yarnell's. They bought everything, including the recipes and buildings.
Yarnell's started making ice cream again in April 2012 under its new owners. Mitchell Evans became the Vice President of Operations. Later, in June 2020, another company called Turkey Hill, from Pennsylvania, bought Yarnell's production factory in Searcy. Turkey Hill wanted to grow its business, but they also continued to make Yarnell's ice cream products.
