Yasuhiro Hato (波戸 康広, Hato Yasuhiro, born 4 May 1976) is a famous Japanese football player. He was known for playing as a defender. He also proudly represented the Japan national team.

Playing for Clubs

Yasuhiro Hato was born in Minamiawaji, Japan, on May 4, 1976. After finishing high school, he started his professional football journey.

Early Career with Yokohama Flügels

In 1995, Hato joined a team called Yokohama Flügels. He mostly played as a right midfielder. A midfielder helps both in defense and attack. Over time, he got more chances to play in games. In 1998, his team won the Emperor's Cup, which is a big football tournament in Japan. Sadly, the club had to close down at the end of 1998.

Success with Yokohama F. Marinos

After Yokohama Flügels closed, Hato moved to another team called Yokohama F. Marinos in 1999. Here, he played mainly as a right side-back or a center-back. A side-back plays on the sides of the defense, while a center-back plays in the middle. These players are very important for stopping the other team from scoring.

With Yokohama F. Marinos, Hato achieved great success. The team won the 2001 J.League Cup in 2001. They also became champions of the J1 League in 2003. The J1 League is the top football league in Japan.

Later Club Teams

In April 2004, Hato moved to Kashiwa Reysol. After a couple of seasons, he joined Omiya Ardija in 2006. He played for Omiya Ardija for four years. In 2010, he returned to his former team, Yokohama F. Marinos. Yasuhiro Hato decided to retire from playing professional football at the end of the 2011 season.

Playing for Japan

Yasuhiro Hato also had the honor of playing for the Japan national team. This means he represented his country in international matches against other nations.

International Debut and Confederations Cup

He played his first game for Japan on April 25, 2001, against the Spanish national team. After his first game, he played in many matches as a right midfielder. He was part of the Japan team that played in the Confederations Cup in 2001. In this big international tournament, Japan finished as the runner-up, which was a fantastic achievement!

Later International Career

In 2002, Hato's chances to play for the national team became fewer. He was not chosen to be part of the Japan team for the 2002 FIFA World Cup. Overall, he played 15 games for Japan between 2001 and 2002.
