Playing Career: Yasutoshi Miura's Club Journey
Yasutoshi Miura was born in Shizuoka, Japan, on July 15, 1965. After finishing high school, he joined the Japanese club Yomiuri in 1986. Before that, he spent some time with the Brazilian club Santos.
Early Success with Yomiuri
With Yomiuri (which later became Verdy Kawasaki), Miura helped his team win many titles. They won the Japan Soccer League three times. They also won the JSL Cup once and the Emperor's Cup twice. In 1987, the club even won the 1987 Asian Club Championship, showing they were one of the best teams in Asia.
Moving to Shimizu S-Pulse and Return to Verdy
In 1992, Miura moved to a new club called Shimizu S-Pulse. This team was based in his hometown of Shizuoka. After a few years, in 1996, he went back to Verdy Kawasaki. There, he helped them win the 1996 Emperor's Cup. However, he didn't play as much as before.
Later Clubs and Retirement
In 1999, Miura joined Avispa Fukuoka. He became a regular player for them. But in 2001, the club moved down to a lower league called J2 League. Miura then moved to Vissel Kobe in 2002. He played for two more years before retiring from playing football in 2003. He was 38 years old when he stopped playing professionally.
National Team: Playing for Japan
In October 1993, Yasutoshi Miura was chosen to play for the Japan national football team. His first game for Japan was on October 4, 1993, against Ivory Coast.
World Cup Qualifiers and Appearances
Miura played as a left-back in that game because the usual player was injured. He also played in the qualifying matches for the 1994 FIFA World Cup. In total, he played 3 games for Japan in 1993.
Coaching Career: Leading Teams to Success
After he stopped playing, Yasutoshi Miura started a new career as a football manager.
Starting as a Manager in J2 League
In 2011, he became the manager for J2 League club Giravanz Kitakyushu. The team had finished last in the 2010 season. But under Miura's leadership, Giravanz improved a lot. They finished in 8th place in the 2011 season and 9th place in 2012.
Managing Tokyo Verdy and Chiangmai
In 2013, Miura moved to manage Tokyo Verdy, a club he had played for a long time. However, the team did not do well, and he left in September 2014. In 2015, Miura went to Thailand to manage Chiangmai. He left that club in July due to poor results.
Success with Kagoshima United FC
In 2016, he joined J3 League club Kataller Toyama. Then, in 2017, he moved to another J3 club, Kagoshima United FC. In 2018, he led Kagoshima United FC to a fantastic 2nd place finish. This meant the club was promoted to the J2 League for the first time ever! He left the club at the end of 2018.
Current Role at Suzuka Point Getters
