Yasuyuki Moriyama (born May 1, 1969) is a former Japanese football player. He played as a forward, which is a position in football that focuses on scoring goals. Moriyama also played for the Japan national team.

Playing Career Highlights

Yasuyuki Moriyama was born in Gifu, Japan. He started his football journey in high school and then played for Juntendo University. After finishing university, he joined a professional team called Nagoya Grampus Eight in 1992.

Success with Nagoya Grampus Eight

With Nagoya Grampus Eight, Moriyama helped his team win the Emperor's Cup in 1995. This is a big football tournament in Japan. The club also did well in Asia, finishing second in the 1996–97 Asian Cup Winners' Cup.

Moving to Different Clubs

During the late 1990s and early 2000s, Moriyama played for several different clubs. He was loaned to teams like Bellmare Hiratsuka (in 1998), HIT Gorica in Slovenia (from 1998 to 1999), Sanfrecce Hiroshima (in 1999), Kawasaki Frontale (in 2000), and Consadole Sapporo (from 2002 to 2003).

Return to Local Club

In July 2004, Moriyama first announced he would stop playing football while at Nagoya Grampus Eight. However, in 2005, he decided to play again for his local team, FC Gifu. At that time, FC Gifu was in the Regional Leagues. Moriyama helped FC Gifu get promoted to higher leagues: the Japan Football League in 2007 and then the J2 League in 2008. He finally retired from playing at the end of the 2008 season.

Later Career as Player-Team Director

In February 2019, Moriyama took on a new role. He became a player-team director for FC Maruyasu Okazaki, a club in the Japan Football League. Even though he was registered as a player for two seasons (until 2020), he did not play in any matches during this time.

National Team Appearances

Yasuyuki Moriyama also had the honor of playing for the Japan national team. He made his first and only appearance for the national team on June 15, 1997, in a game against Turkey.
