A Look Back in Time: Yatesville's History
In 1809, a man named Joel Hale built the very first house in the area that would become Yatesville. This house was made of wood, and Mr. Hale owned most of the land where the borough now stands.
Many years later, on May 20, 1878, Yatesville officially became its own borough. This meant it separated from Jenkins Township and could govern itself. The first election for the new community happened in June of that year. The first leader, called a burgess, was T. T. Hale.
