Yaw Preko is a famous football player from Ghana. He was born on September 8, 1974, in Accra. Yaw played as a forward, which means he was usually trying to score goals for his team! After a great career playing football, he became a coach. Right now, he is the manager for Ghana's Under-20 national football team.

Yaw Preko's Football Journey
Yaw Preko started his football journey with a small club in Ghana called Powerlines. His first club in Europe was R.S.C. Anderlecht in Belgium. There, he helped his team win the Belgian championship three times!
Playing in Different Countries
From 1997 to 2004, Yaw played football in Turkey for teams like Gaziantepspor and Fenerbahçe. After that, he moved to Sweden to play for Halmstads BK in 2004.
In 2005, Yaw left Halmstads BK and signed with Al-Ettifaq in Saudi Arabia. He played there for almost two years. Later, he joined HAGL in Vietnam. After one season, he decided to return to Ghana to play in his home country's league.
Representing Ghana
Yaw Preko played 68 international matches for the Ghana national team. This means he played for his country against teams from all over the world!
Olympic Success
He was a very important part of the team that won a bronze medal at the 1992 Summer Olympics in Barcelona, Spain. This was a huge achievement for Ghana in football!
Becoming a Football Coach
After his playing career, Yaw Preko decided to share his knowledge and passion for football by becoming a coach.
Early Coaching Roles
From December 2012 to July 2013, Yaw was the assistant manager for Ghana's U20 national team. In October 2015, he became an assistant manager again, this time for Hearts of Oak.
In October 2016, he took over as the temporary manager for Hearts of Oak. Later that year, he joined Ifeanyi Ubah, a Nigerian club, as an assistant manager. He then became the main manager for Ifeanyi Ubah.
Coaching Ghana's Youth Teams
In January 2018, Yaw was appointed assistant manager for Ghana's U17 national team. In April 2019, he also worked as an assistant manager for Kings Palace FC in Ghana.
Finally, in June 2019, Yaw Preko was appointed the manager of Ghana's U20 national team. He continues to help young Ghanaian players develop their skills and achieve their dreams in football.
