Yaw Preko, born on September 8, 1974, in Accra, Ghana, is a famous former football player. He used to play as a striker, which means he was a forward player who scored goals. Today, he is a coach and manages Ghana's Under-20 national football team.

Yaw Preko's Football Journey
Yaw Preko started his football career at a small Ghanaian club called Powerlines. His first team in Europe was R.S.C. Anderlecht in Belgium. There, he helped his team win the Belgian championship three times!
Playing in Turkey and Sweden
From 1997 to 2004, Yaw Preko played for different teams in Turkey. After that, he moved to Sweden and joined Halmstads BK in the Allsvenskan league.
Moving to Saudi Arabia and Vietnam
In 2005, Yaw Preko left Halmstads BK. He then signed with Al-Ettifaq, a team in Saudi Arabia, where he played for almost two years. Later, he moved to Vietnam and played for HAGL in the V-League for one season. After playing in different countries, Preko said he wanted to return to play in the Ghanaian league.
Playing for Ghana
Yaw Preko played many games for his country, the Ghana national football team. He played in 68 international matches. He was part of the team that won a bronze medal at the 1992 Summer Olympics in Barcelona, Spain. This was a big achievement for Ghana in football!
Coaching Career
After his playing days, Yaw Preko started coaching. He has helped guide young players and teams.
Early Coaching Roles
From December 2012 to July 2013, Preko was an assistant coach for Ghana's U20 national team. In October 2015, he became an assistant coach for Hearts of Oak. He even took over as a temporary manager for the club in October 2016.
Coaching in Nigeria and Ghana
Later in 2016, he joined Ifeanyi Ubah, a Nigerian club, as an assistant coach. He then became the main manager for that team. In January 2018, he was appointed assistant coach for Ghana's U17 national team.
Current Coaching Position
In April 2019, he worked as an assistant coach for Kings Palace FC in Ghana. By June 2019, Yaw Preko was appointed the manager of Ghana's U20 national team. He continues to lead and develop young football talent in Ghana.
