The Story of Yellowhead Tribal College

Yellowhead Tribal College (YTC) began in 1986. It was created by the Yellowhead Tribal Council. The main goal was to help its member First Nations get the education they needed. This also helped them grow socially, politically, and economically.

The college's first regular education program started in 1984. It was called the University College and Entrance Preparation Program (UCEPP). This program helped students get ready for college. Over time, this small program grew a lot.

Now, YTC offers its own approved courses. Students can earn certificates, diplomas, and even degrees. The college also works with other well-known schools. These include Athabasca University, MacEwan University, and the University of Alberta. It also partners with other tribal colleges like Blue Quills First Nations College and Maskwacis Cultural College.
