Yendegaia Bay is a beautiful bay located in the Beagle Channel. This channel is a famous waterway in the southern part of Chile. Yendegaia Bay is part of the Beagle Channel. This channel is a narrow sea passage. It is located at the very southern tip of South America. The bay is on the Chilean side of the large island. This island is called Isla Grande de Tierra del Fuego. The Yendegaia River flows into the bay.

Protecting the Land

In 1998, a special group bought the land around Yendegaia Bay. This group was called the Conservation Land Trust. It was a charity from the United States. A person named Douglas Tompkins led this group. They wanted to protect the natural beauty of the area.

From Yendegaia Bay, you can go on an amazing hike. This trek leads to the Stoppani Glacier. A glacier is a huge, slow-moving river of ice. It's a great way to see the stunning nature of the region.

Building a New Road

In August 2011, news came out about a new road. The Chilean Army started building it. This road goes south from the Azopardo River to Yendegaia Bay. It is the first road to reach the Chilean part of the Beagle Channel. This road helps people get to this remote area more easily.
