Yiddah is a small area or "locality" in New South Wales, Australia. It is about 474 kilometres (295 mi) west of Sydney, which is the capital city of the state. Yiddah is located roughly halfway between the towns of West Wyalong and Barmedman.
Yiddah is part of the Bland Shire local government area. This means it is managed by the local council of Bland Shire. It is also within the historical land division known as Bland County.
Yiddah's Railway History
Yiddah once had its own railway station. It opened on December 2, 1903. The station was part of the Lake Cargelligo railway line. However, it closed down on May 4, 1975.
Grain Storage and Transport
Even though the passenger station is closed, Yiddah still plays a role in farming. There is a large building called a grain silo there. A silo is used to store grain, like wheat or barley, after it's harvested. There is also a railway siding. A siding is a short track next to the main railway line. It allows trains to stop and load or unload goods, such as grain from the silo, without blocking the main track.
