Yolanda Rose "LaLa" Brown (born May 20, 1986 – died October 16, 2007) was a talented American R&B singer. She became well-known for her part in the song "S.E.X." with Lyfe Jennings. This song was very popular, reaching high spots on the Billboard music charts in 2006. Sadly, LaLa Brown passed away in 2007, and her case remains unsolved.

Early Life and Beginnings

Yolanda Rose Brown was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, on May 20, 1986. Her mother was of Mexican descent, and her father was African American. LaLa was the youngest of five children in her family.

Her parents shared that she loved to entertain from a very young age. She was always singing and dancing around the house. It was clear to everyone that she had a special talent for music.

At just eleven years old, LaLa started singing professionally. She used the stage name "Pre-mere." She often sang at weddings and later performed in various local bars.

LaLa attended Frederick Douglass Elementary School and Jackie Robinson Middle School. She later went to Milwaukee High School of the Arts. At 16, in 2002, LaLa became a mother to her daughter, Amirah Airreal Brown. She also enjoyed helping out in her community.

Music Career Highlights

In the fall of 2005, LaLa Brown traveled to Atlanta, Georgia. She hoped to take her music career to the next level there. She believed Atlanta would give her a better chance to meet artists, producers, and songwriters.

LaLa finally got the big break she was looking for. R&B singer-songwriter Lyfe Jennings asked her to be on his new song, "S.E.X.." She was a featured singer on the track and appeared in its music video.

The song "S.E.X." was a big hit. It reached No. 3 on the Billboard Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart. It also peaked at No. 37 on the Billboard Hot 100 in October 2006.

After the song's success, LaLa toured with Lyfe Jennings. Later, she decided to focus on her own music. In June 2007, she returned to Milwaukee. She was determined to become a solo artist and started working on her first album.

Before her passing, LaLa recorded three songs. These were "I'm Feeling It," "Rescue Me," and "Give Them What They Want." Many people believe "Give Them What They Want" was about her own life.

Tragic Passing and Unsolved Case

On October 19, 2007, LaLa Brown and her record producer, JeTannue "Kool Aid" Clayborn, were found deceased. They were discovered at a recording studio in Milwaukee. They had passed away a few days before being found.

LaLa Brown was survived by her mother, father, siblings, and her daughter. Her funeral was held on October 25, 2007. It took place at the Mason Temple Church of God in Christ in Milwaukee. Hundreds of people attended, including Lyfe Jennings.

She was laid to rest at Graceland Cemetery in Milwaukee. The case of her passing was featured on the TV show America's Most Wanted in February 2010. On October 22, 2012, TV One aired an episode of Celebrity Crime Files about LaLa Brown's life and passing.

As of May 2022, the case remains unsolved. Police continue to search for answers about what happened.
