Yolande was born into a powerful family. Her father was Count Robert III of Dreux and Braine. He was also known as "Gasteblé." Her mother was Alianor de St. Valéry.
Her Family and Life
Yolande's marriage to Hugh IV of Burgundy was a big event for both families. Being a duchess meant she had an important role in the Duchy of Burgundy. This area was a powerful part of France during the Middle Ages. Duchesses often helped manage the lands and supported their husbands in ruling.
Yolande lived during the 13th century, a time when noble families held a lot of power. Her life would have involved managing a large household and raising her children.
Her Children
Yolande and Hugh IV of Burgundy had several children. These children continued the family line and married into other important noble families across Europe.
- Margaret, Lady of Molinot (1229–1277): She married two times. First, she married William III, lord of Mont St Jean. Later, she married Guy VI, viscount of Limoges.
- Odo, Count of Nevers and Auxerre (1230–1266): He inherited important titles from his family.
- John (1231–1268): He married Agnes. Their daughter, Beatrice of Burgundy, became the heiress of Bourbon.
