The Yolo County Fair is a super fun event held every year in Woodland, California. It usually takes place in the middle of August, running from Wednesday afternoon through Sunday evening. It's special because it's the biggest fair in California that you can enter for free!

About the Yolo County Fair
The Yolo County Fair first started way back in 1935. It moved to its current location in 1940. This fair is famous for being the largest one in California that doesn't charge an entry fee. That means everyone can come and have a great time for free!
A Look Back at Fair History
The fair has been held almost every year since it began. However, there were a few times it couldn't happen. During World War II, the fair was canceled from 1942 to 1945. More recently, in 2020, the fair was not held in person because of the COVID-19 pandemic. The 82nd fair, which was supposed to be in 2020, happened virtually in 2021 instead.

Exciting Arena Shows
One of the most popular attractions is the demolition derby. Cars crash and smash into each other in the fairground's arena. It's a loud and thrilling show that many people love to watch!
Farm Fun and Exhibits
The fair celebrates farming and agriculture. You can see exhibits from local Future Farmers of America (FFA) members. There are also many other competitions and auctions related to farming. It's a great way to learn about where our food comes from.
Explore the Exhibit Halls
Inside the exhibition halls, you can walk around and see many different stands. Local businesses and community groups set up displays. You can discover new things, learn about local services, and sometimes even get free samples!
Sing Your Heart Out!
One of the newest and most popular events is the "Yolo County Fair Vocal Showcase." This competition is like the famous TV show American Idol. Talented singers from the area get to show off their skills on stage. It's a chance for them to shine and entertain the crowd.
