Yondu Udonta, usually called Yondu, is a character from American comic books published by Marvel Comics. There are two main versions of Yondu.

The first Yondu appeared in comics in 1969. He is the last person left of his kind from the 31st century. He helped start the first Guardians of the Galaxy team. This Yondu has blue skin and a big red fin on his head and back. He is a special warrior who can control his arrows using sound, especially by whistling. He joined Vance Astro and other survivors to form the Guardians. They even traveled to Earth and became honorary members of the Avengers.

Later, actor Michael Rooker played Yondu in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) movies. This version of Yondu is a space pirate who leads a group called "The Ravagers." After the first movie came out, Marvel Comics added this version of Yondu to their modern comic books too. Michael Rooker also voiced Yondu in the The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special and the animated series What If...?.

Yondu has also appeared in the Guardians of the Galaxy animated TV show and in several video games.

Yondu's Special Abilities

As a member of the Centaurian alien race, Yondu has a special "sixth sense." This allows him to feel a connection with other living things. The more complex a life form is, the harder it is for him to connect.

Yondu also has a strong connection with nature. He can sense things that don't belong, like foreign objects. He can also find specific things, like a certain plant. He can even sense magical beings and powers easily. Yondu can make himself stronger by going into a trance and connecting with nature.

Yondu is stronger and tougher than an average human. He is an amazing hunter and very skilled with a bow and arrow. He can whistle with a wide range of sounds, which helps him control his arrows. Even though his native language uses grunts and whistles, he has learned to speak English well. He is also a great fighter and tracker.

Yondu's Unique Weapons

Yondu uses a 5-foot (1.5 m) bow and special arrows made of "yaka." This metal is only found on his home planet, Centauri IV. Yaka arrows can change direction when Yondu makes certain high-pitched whistle sounds. He is so good at controlling his arrows that he can make them fly back to him or weave through a crowd without hitting anyone. His arrows are 15 inches (38 cm) long and very flexible. He usually carries about 20 of them.

For a while, Yondu had a metal device instead of his right hand. This device could hide different weapons inside it, like a mace or a spear. These weapons would grow larger when he needed them. Later, he got his original hand back.
