About Yoseph Macwan's Life

Yoseph Macwan was born in Ahmedabad on December 20, 1940. His parents were Philip and Mariyam. His family came from a village called Malawada, near Nadiad.

After finishing school, he worked as a helper for the Ahmedabad city bus service. He did not earn much money, so he decided to go back to school. He studied at Gujarat University. He earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in Gujarati in 1968. He then got his Master of Arts degree in 1970. He also earned a teaching degree in 1975.

In 1963, he started working as a teacher at Sheth Chimanlal Nagindas Vidyalaya in Ahmedabad. He taught there until he retired. For three years, he also helped run a magazine called Vaishakhi.

Yoseph Macwan's Books and Poems

Yoseph Macwan has written many different kinds of books. His first work, Aravata, was printed in a magazine called Sanskriti.

His first book of poems was Swagat, published in 1969. This book included different types of poems, like sonnets and songs. Other poetry books he wrote are Soorajno Hath (1983), Alakhna Asawar (1994), and Avajna X-Ray (2000).
