Yoshiharu Horii (堀井 美晴, Horii Yoshiharu, born 16 March 1953) is a former Japanese football player and manager. He was born on March 16, 1953.

Playing Career Highlights

Yoshiharu Horii started his football journey in his hometown of Fujieda. After finishing high school, he joined the team Yanmar Diesel in 1971. He played as a forward for this team for many years, until 1987. During his time as a player, he appeared in 204 games and scored 46 goals.

Horii's Achievements as a Player

Horii helped his team win several important championships.

  • He won the Japan Soccer League four times: in 1971, 1974, 1975, and 1980.
  • His team also won the JSL Cup twice, in 1983 and 1984.
  • In 1974, he won the Emperor's Cup, which is another major football tournament in Japan.

Coaching and Managerial Roles

After he stopped playing football professionally, Horii began a new career as a coach.

Early Coaching Years

He first became a coach at his former club, Yanmar Diesel. This club later changed its name to Cerezo Osaka. He coached there until 1995. In 1996, he moved to another team, Gamba Osaka, where he coached until 2000.

Becoming a Manager

In 2001, Yoshiharu Horii took on a new challenge. He became the manager for the team Kawasaki Frontale.
