Ysgol Dewi Sant is a secondary school located in St Davids, a small city in Pembrokeshire, Wales. It's a school for students aged 11 to 18.

About Ysgol Dewi Sant

This school welcomes students from St Davids and the surrounding countryside. In 2007, a group called Estyn, which inspects schools in Wales, praised Ysgol Dewi Sant. They noted the school's strong results in GCSE and A Levels, which are important exams students take at the end of their secondary education.

Keeping the School Open

In 2013, there was a discussion about possibly closing Ysgol Dewi Sant. However, the school was actually doing very well! The Western Mail newspaper even ranked it as the top school in Wales in its "Real Schools Guide."

By December 2014, the school had made many improvements. Teachers were helping students of all abilities, and security was better with a new reception area and stricter identity checks. Because of these improvements, Estyn removed Ysgol Dewi Sant from its list of schools needing improvement.

Despite this, the Pembrokeshire County Council held a special meeting in January 2015. They wanted to talk about big changes to education in Wales, and closing Ysgol Dewi Sant was one idea. More than 300 people protested outside the meeting to show their support for the school. In the end, the council decided to keep Ysgol Dewi Sant open. However, they did decide to look at the future of the sixth form, which is for older students (ages 16-18).

Many talented people have studied at Ysgol Dewi Sant. Here are a few:
