Yu Wenxia (Chinese: 于文霞; pinyin: Yú Wénxiá) is a talented Chinese actress, TV host, singer, and model. She was born on July 5, 1989. She became famous around the world when she won the Miss World 2012 competition. This big event took place in Ordos City, China. She was the second person from China to win the Miss World title. The first was Zhang Zilin in 2007.

Early Life and Education
Yu Wenxia grew up in Shangzhi, a city in northeast China. Her parents were farmers. She has one older sister.
She went to Harbin University. There, she studied Chinese Folk Music for four years. This helped her develop her singing talent. She has also studied at Harvard University in the United States.

Becoming Miss China 2012
On June 30, 2012, Yu Wenxia won the title of Miss China. The competition was held at the Jinhai Lake Resort in Beijing. This win allowed her to represent her country in the Miss World pageant.
Winning Miss World 2012
Yu Wenxia won the Miss World 2012 pageant on August 18, 2012. The event was held in Ordos City, China. During the competition, she also won the "Miss Talent" award. She showed off her amazing singing skills by performing a Chinese folk song.
When she won, she said she was very surprised and happy. She knew that being Miss World was a big responsibility. She looked up to Zhang Zilin, who was the first Miss World from China. Yu Wenxia returned to the Miss World stage in 2013. She performed a song called "Tanzette." She sang with Vania Larissa from Indonesia and Erin Holland from Australia. These two had won or placed high in the talent competition that year.
