Yu Wenxia (Chinese: 于文霞; pinyin: Yú Wénxiá) was born on August 6, 1989. She is a talented Chinese actress, TV host, singer, and model. Yu Wenxia is best known for winning the Miss World 2012 beauty pageant. This big event took place in Ordos City, China. She was the second person from China to win this title. The first was Zhang Zilin in 2007.

Early Life and School
Yu Wenxia grew up in Shangzhi, Heilongjiang, in northeast China. She was the younger of two daughters. Her parents were farmers.
She went to Harbin University. There, she studied Chinese Folk Music for four years. She is also studying at Harvard University in the United States.
Her Journey to Miss World
Becoming Miss China 2012
On June 30, 2012, Yu Wenxia won the title of Miss China 2012. The competition was held in Beijing.
Winning Miss World 2012
Yu Wenxia won the Miss World pageant on August 18, 2012. The event was in Ordos City, China. She also won the "Miss Talent" part of the competition. For her talent, she sang a Chinese folk song.
When she won, she said she was surprised and very happy. She felt that winning Miss World was a big responsibility. Yu Wenxia looked up to Zhang Zilin, who was the first Miss World from China. She hoped to follow Zhang Zilin's example. She also wanted to make her own positive impact. Yu Wenxia was excited to work with the Miss World Organization. She wanted to share her kindness and help many people.
During her year as Miss World, Yu Wenxia traveled a lot. She visited many countries, including the United Kingdom, France, India, Australia, the United States, and her home country, China.
Miss World 2013 Performance
At the Miss World 2013 final show, Yu Wenxia performed a song called "Tanzette." She sang with Vania Larissa from Indonesia and Erin Holland from Australia. They were the winners and runners-up of the talent competition that year.
