What is Yuba, Oklahoma?
Yuba is a community that has a history of its own. It's a place where people live and have lived for many years. Even though it's small, it has been an important part of the local area.
Yuba's Original Name: Karma
Did you know Yuba wasn't always called Yuba? At first, this community was known as Karma. It's interesting how places can change their names over time! The name Yuba came later, in 1950. Some local people actually wanted the name to be Eagle Lake.
Post Office and School History
A post office is a place where you can send and receive mail. Yuba got its very own post office on February 27, 1929. This was a big deal for the community! It made it easier for people to connect with others.
In the same year, 1929, a school was also opened in Yuba. This school was special because it taught students from kindergarten all the way up to 12th grade. Imagine going to the same school for your whole education!
Changes to Yuba's School
Over the years, things changed for Yuba's school. The Yuba Independent School District eventually joined with the Achille Independent School District. This meant the schools worked together. The Yuba Elementary School kept teaching younger students until 2010. After that, students likely went to schools in nearby Achille.
