Near the Railroad

The settlement was built along an old railroad line. This line belonged to the Southern Pacific Railroad. Today, this railroad is part of the Union Pacific Railroad. Yuba Pass is about 1 mile (1.6 km) east of another place called Yuba Gap.

Not to Be Confused

It is easy to mix up this Yuba Pass with another place. There is a different mountain pass with the same name. That other pass is in Sierra County. It is located on California State Route 49. The Yuba Pass in Nevada County is a former settlement. The one in Sierra County is a mountain road. They are completely separate places.

What Remains Today?

Most of the old settlement of Yuba Pass has disappeared. There are only a few buildings left. You can still see a warehouse for aggregate. Aggregate is a mix of sand, gravel, and crushed rock. There is also a maintenance shack for PG&E. PG&E is a company that provides power. These are the only signs of the old community.
