Yuichi Nemoto (根本 裕一, Nemoto Yūichi, born July 21, 1981) is a former professional football player from Japan. He was born in Kashima, Japan, and played mostly as a defender. Nemoto spent his career playing for several clubs in Japan's football leagues, including the top-tier J1 League. He was known for his strong defensive skills and his ability to play in different positions on the left side of the field.

Yuichi Nemoto's Football Journey

Yuichi Nemoto started his football journey in his hometown. He joined the youth team of Kashima Antlers in 1994 and played there until 1999. In 2000, he officially joined the senior team of Kashima Antlers, which played in the J1 League. Even though he played a few games as a left-back, he didn't get to play very often in his first two years.

Moving Through the Leagues

In 2002, Nemoto moved to Cerezo Osaka, a club in the J2 League (the second division). Here, he became a regular player, often playing as a left-sided midfielder. He played in 34 matches and scored 4 goals, helping his team finish second and get promoted to the J1 League for the next season.

The following year, 2003, he joined another J1 League club, Vegalta Sendai. He continued to play regularly as a left-back and was even given a "Fair Play" award for his good sportsmanship. However, Vegalta Sendai was relegated back to the J2 League in 2004.

Success with Oita Trinita

Nemoto then moved to Oita Trinita, another J1 League team, in 2004. For the first year, he wasn't a regular starter. But by the summer of 2005, he became a key player, often playing as a left-sided midfielder. In 2006, he had a fantastic season, playing in all 34 league matches and receiving his second "Fair Play" award.

However, in 2007, a new player named Shingo Suzuki joined the team, and Nemoto's chances to play became fewer. In June 2008, he moved to JEF United Chiba, another J1 League club, but he didn't play many games there either.

Final Years and Retirement

In 2009, Yuichi Nemoto made a big move to Zweigen Kanazawa, a club in the Japanese Regional Leagues (lower divisions). He played in every match that year, helping the team get promoted to the Japan Football League (a higher amateur league) in 2010. He continued to be a regular player for Zweigen Kanazawa until the end of the 2012 season. After that, Yuichi Nemoto decided to retire from professional football. Throughout his career, he played in 242 league matches and scored 13 goals.
