Yuki Ogura (小倉 遊亀, Ogura Yuki, 1 March 1895 – 23 July 2000) was a famous Japanese artist. She was known for her unique painting style called nihonga. This style uses traditional Japanese methods and materials. Her maiden name was Yuki Mizoguchi. She was also famous for her bijinga, which are beautiful pictures of women.

Early Life and Art Training
Yuki Ogura was born in Ōtsu city, Shiga Prefecture, Japan. This was on March 1, 1895. She went to the Nara Women's Normal School. Today, this school is known as Nara Women's University.
After finishing school, Yuki worked as a teacher. But she loved art very much. In 1920, she decided to study painting. She learned from a well-known Nihonga painter named Yukihiko Yasuda.
Becoming a Famous Artist
Yuki Ogura's art quickly gained attention. In 1926, her painting called Kyuri (which means "Cucumbers") was chosen for a special art show. This show was called the Inten Exhibition. It was put on by the Japan Fine Arts Academy.
In 1932, Yuki Ogura made history. She became the first woman to join the Japan Fine Arts Academy. This was a very important step for female artists in Japan.
Her Painting Style
Yuki Ogura painted many different things. She was known for graceful scenes of families. She also painted still life pictures. These are paintings of objects like fruit or flowers. And, of course, she painted many beautiful pictures of women.
Her paintings were always in the traditional Nihonga style. But many people thought her work felt very modern. This was true for both her style and the ideas in her paintings.
Awards and Later Life
Yuki Ogura was a very busy and successful artist. In 1976, she became a member of the Japan Art Academy. Later, she was even made the honorary chairperson of this important group.
In 1980, she received a huge honor. She was given the Order of Culture. This is one of Japan's highest awards for artists. Yuki Ogura was only one of two women painters to ever receive this award. The other was another Nihonga artist named Uemura Shōen.
Yuki Ogura lived a very long life. Her art studio and home were in Kamakura, Kanagawa. She lived there until she was 105 years old. She passed away on July 23, 2000.
