The Story of Yukon Brewing
Yukon Brewing started its journey in 1997. It has changed its name a few times since then!
How the Name Changed
When the company first started, it was called Chilkoot Brewing Co. Ltd. But when they wanted to sell their drinks in the United States, they had a problem with the name. So, they changed it to Cheechako Brewing Company.
A few years later, in 1999, they changed it again to Yukon Brewing Company. Then, in 2010, they made it even shorter, and now it's just called Yukon Brewing.
Award-Winning Drinks
Yukon Brewing has won awards for its drinks! In 2009, their special beer called Yukon Red won a big prize. It was named the 'Canadian Beer of the Year' at an event called the Canadian Brewing Awards. It also won a gold medal in its category.
Making Whiskey Too
In 2009, some rules changed in Yukon that allowed breweries to also make stronger drinks like whiskey. So, Yukon Brewing started making its own whiskey! They store it in special barrels. This whiskey is sold under a different name, called Two Brewers.
Popular Local Beers
One of Yukon Brewing's most popular drinks is called Yukon Gold. It's the best-selling draft beer in Yukon, which means it's the most popular beer served from a tap!
