Yumi Obe (大部 由美, born February 15, 1975) is a famous former Japanese football player. She was also a manager for a short time. Yumi Obe played as a defender for the Japan national team. She is known for her long and successful career in Japanese football.

Club Career Highlights
Yumi Obe was born in Sakaiminato, Japan, on February 15, 1975. She started her professional football journey in 1991. She joined a team called Nikko Securities Dream Ladies.
Early Success and Awards
Yumi quickly showed her talent. In 1991, she won the Young Player Award. She was also chosen for the "Best Eleven" team for four years in a row, from 1995 to 1998. Her team, Nikko Securities Dream Ladies, was very strong. They won the L.League championship three times in a row, from 1996 to 1998.
Moving to New Teams
Sadly, her first club, Nikko Securities Dream Ladies, closed down in 1998. This happened because of money problems. Yumi then moved to another team called OKI FC Winds in 1999. But this team also closed at the end of that season.
After that, she joined YKK Tohoku Ladies SC Flappers. This team later changed its name to TEPCO Mareeze. Yumi played for them until the end of the 2006 season. After that season, she decided to retire from playing football. Throughout her career, Yumi Obe was selected for the "Best Eleven" team a total of seven times. This shows how skilled she was as a player.
Playing for Japan
Yumi Obe also had a fantastic career playing for her country, Japan. She made her first appearance for the Japan national team on August 21, 1991. She was only 16 years old when she played her first international match against China.
World Cups and Olympics
Yumi was a key player for Japan in many big tournaments. She played in three FIFA Women's World Cups: in 1991, 1995, and 2003. She also represented Japan in the Summer Olympics football tournaments in 1996 and 2004.
Asian Competitions
She also took part in many AFC Women's Championships and Asian Games. These included tournaments in 1993, 1995, 1997, 1999, 2001, and 2003. She also played in the Asian Games in 1998 and 2002. Yumi Obe played a total of 85 games for Japan and scored 6 goals. She was also the captain of the national team, which is a very important role. She stopped playing for the national team in 2004.
Coaching Experience
Towards the end of her playing career, Yumi Obe also had a brief experience as a coach. In November 2006, the manager of her club, TEPCO Mareeze, left the team. Yumi stepped in to manage the team as a "playing manager" for the 2006 Empress's Cup in December. This meant she was both playing and leading the team at the same time.
