Becoming a Music Producer
When he was younger, Lionel Carter Jr. loved rhythm and blues music, as well as classic rap. After finishing high school at Westside High, he decided to focus on music. He went to The Art Institute, where he lived with a roommate who created music beats.
At first, Lionel wanted to be an engineer who recorded artists. But watching his roommate make beats inspired him to try producing music himself.
In 2011, Lionel decided to leave college and start working as an engineer and recorder for artists. However, he soon realized this wasn't what he truly wanted to do. Since he didn't have another job, he started selling his own music beats to earn money. His cousin, Yung Jonez, encouraged him to make his beats even better. They worked together a lot, and Lionel ended up producing several songs for Yung Jonez.
