D'Juan Montrel Hart (born January 15, 1979), known by his stage name Young Dro, is an American rapper. He is famous for working with fellow Atlanta rapper T.I.. Young Dro signed with T.I.'s record label, Grand Hustle Records, in 2004.
His first major album, Best Thang Smokin' (released in 2006), reached number three on the Billboard 200 music chart. A popular song from this album was "Shoulder Lean", which featured T.I. This song became a top ten hit on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. After releasing several mixtapes, he put out his second album, High Times, in 2013. Its main song, "FDB", also did well on the music charts.

The Early Life of Young Dro
Growing Up in Atlanta
D'Juan Hart, also known as Young Dro, was born on January 15, 1979, in Southwest Atlanta, Georgia. He was inspired to become a rapper by his good friend, Chris "Daddy Mack" Smith. Chris was one half of the famous rap group Kris Kross. However, the group Goodie Mob, who were also from West Atlanta, had the biggest musical impact on Young Dro.
Starting His Music Career
Young Dro began his professional music journey around 1999. He signed with a local Atlanta record label called Tight 4 Life. At this time, he was known simply as Dro. He released a regional hit song called "Yes Sir" and an independent album titled I Got That Dro. This was around the same time that T.I. released his first album, I'm Serious.
Even though Young Dro and T.I. had known each other since the early 1990s, they had drifted apart for a while. In 2004, Young Dro signed a record deal with T.I.'s label, Grand Hustle.
Young Dro's Rise to Fame
The Success of "Shoulder Lean"
In the summer of 2006, Young Dro released his first major single, "Shoulder Lean". This song was played a lot on TV channels like BET and MTV2. The ringtone for the song sold over 500,000 copies, showing how popular it was!
This hit song was part of his first album with a major label, Best Thang Smokin'. The album was released on August 29, 2006. It quickly became a success, reaching number three on the US Billboard 200 chart.
Mixtapes and High Times Album
After his first album, Young Dro continued to make music. In 2007, he was featured in XXL magazine's first annual "Top 10 Freshmen" list. This list highlights new and rising rappers.
He released a song called "Take Off" in 2009, which featured his friend Yung L.A.. Over the next few years, Young Dro released many mixtapes, which are like collections of songs. Some of these mixtapes included Equestrian Dro (2011), I Co-Sign Myself (2011), Drocabulary (2011), We Outchea (2012), R.I.P. 2 (I Killed That ****) (2012), and Ralph Lauren Reefa (2012).
In 2013, he released the song "FDB", which was the first single from his second studio album. He also released another mixtape called Day Two to promote his new album. On July 10, 2013, Young Dro announced that his second album would be called High Times. It was released on October 15, 2013. The album featured other artists like T.I., Problem, and Doe B. High Times reached number 57 on the Billboard 200 and number 9 on the Top Rap Albums chart.

Da Reality Show and Beyond
On February 27, 2015, Young Dro released "We in da City", the first song from his third album. He announced that this album, titled Da Reality Show, would be released in the summer of 2015. It officially came out on September 18, 2015.
In 2016, he released a joint mixtape with producer Zaytoven called Boot Me Up. As of 2019, he was working on a project with another rapper, Romo 11. More recently, in 2024, he was featured on a song called "Favorite Trapper" by 1K Phew.
