Music Career Highlights

Starting Out: 2008-2011

In 2008, Yung L.A. joined Grand Hustle Records. This record label was started by T.I., another famous rapper. Young Dro, an artist from Atlanta, helped him get signed.

On April 12, 2008, Yung L.A. released his first mixtape called Offset Shawty. A mixtape is like an album, but often released for free.

His first official song, "Ain't I", came out on November 25, 2008. It featured Young Dro and T.I. This song became very popular. It reached number 47 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. It also earned a platinum certification from the RIAA. This means it sold over one million copies!

Later in 2008, Yung L.A. also signed a deal with Interscope Records. He started working on his first album, which was going to be called Futuristic Leland. He released another mixtape, The Matrix, on December 28, 2008.

In 2009, he released more music. On January 10, he put out Black Boy Swag, White Boy Tags with Young Dro. His second song, "Futuristic Love (Elroy)", came out on April 7, 2009. It featured Ricco Barrino. While it wasn't as big as "Ain't I", it did reach number 55 on the Billboard R&B/Hip-Hop chart.

He continued to release mixtapes. These included Lamborghini Leland (June 2, 2009) and I Think I Can Sang (November 5, 2009). He also made a mixtape with J Money, called Batman & Robin (Superhero Language), on December 14, 2009.

In 2010, he released Crush Da Block and Suntrust Leland.

New Paths: 2011-2012

Around 2011, Yung L.A. decided to move on from Grand Hustle and Interscope Records. His planned album, Futuristic Leland, was not released at that time. He continued making music independently. On September 16, 2011, he released Crush Da Block 2.

In 2012, Yung L.A. shared that he felt his second song didn't get the same support as his first. He wanted to explore new directions for his music.

On November 27, 2012, he released his first album, Check. It was released through an independent record label in Atlanta called U-Digg Music Group.

Recent Years: 2014-Present
