Leland Sanford Austin (born March 26, 1986), known by his stage names Yung L.A. or Da Boi Lay, is an American rapper. He is famous for his first song, "Ain't I". This song reached number 47 on the US Billboard Hot 100 chart. It also hit number seven on Billboard's Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart.

Austin's second song, "Futuristic Love (Elroy)", came out in 2009. It featured American singer Ricco Barrino.

Music Career Highlights

Early Career and First Hits (2008–2011)

In 2008, Yung L.A. joined Grand Hustle Records. This record label was started by the famous rapper T.I.. Another artist from Atlanta, Young Dro, helped Austin get signed.

Austin released his first mixtape, Offset Shawty, on April 12, 2008. A mixtape is like an album, but often released for free.

His first official song, "Ain't I", came out on November 25, 2008. It featured Young Dro and T.I. The song became very popular. It reached number 47 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. It was also certified platinum by the RIAA. This means it sold over one million copies.

In December 2008, Austin signed a deal with Interscope Records. He began working on his first album, called Futuristic Leland. He also released another mixtape, The Matrix, in late 2008.

In 2009, Austin released a mixtape with Young Dro called Black Boy Swag, White Boy Tags. His second single, "Futuristic Love (Elroy)", came out on April 7, 2009. It featured Ricco Barrino. This song reached number 55 on the Billboard R&B/Hip-Hop chart.

Austin continued to release mixtapes. These included Lamborghini Leland and I Think I Can Sang. He also made a mixtape with J Money, called Batman & Robin (Superhero Language).

In 2010, he released two more mixtapes: Crush Da Block and Suntrust Leland.

Changes and New Beginnings (2011–2012)

By early 2011, Yung L.A. left Grand Hustle and Interscope Records. His planned debut album, Futuristic Leland, was not released.

In an interview on March 27, 2012, Austin explained why he left Interscope. He said his second song did not do as well as his first. He also wanted to leave Grand Hustle. He felt the label did not support him enough.

On November 27, 2012, Austin released his first album, Check. It was released by an independent record label called U-Digg Music Group.

Name Change and More Music (2014–Present)

On November 19, 2014, Austin released another collaboration mixtape with J Money. It was called Batman & Robin 2 (Superhero Language). This was a follow-up to their first mixtape.

In 2015, Yung L.A. worked on a new mixtape called Expensive Language. He released it on March 27, 2015. On the same day, he shared that he had signed with Zaytown USA. This label belongs to the record producer Zaytoven.

Austin released several collaboration mixtapes on August 7, 2015. These included 3 Way: 80Lay Mafia with the production team 808 Mafia. He also released 3 Way: Dripset with producers Zaytoven and Cassius Jay. Another mixtape released that day was 3 Way: Foreign Water.
