Andrew Lamont Thomas, known as Yung Simmie, is a rapper from Miami, Florida, in the United States. He started performing in 2009. Since then, he has released many mixtapes and freestyles. He has also appeared in music videos for other artists.
Yung Simmie was a member of the hip hop group Raider Klan, led by SpaceGhostPurrp. He has released over 10 recordings. Yung Simmie has toured in Europe and the United States. He has done this both on his own and with Raider Klan.

Yung Simmie's Music Journey
Early Music and First Mixtapes (2011-2014)
Yung Simmie started rapping when he was young. He began recording and sharing his songs on SoundCloud. In December 2011, he released his first mixtape, Purple Lady Underground Tape. He released it as an independent artist.
In early 2012, he joined Raider Klan Records. Under this label, he released his first official mixtapes. These were G Funk Resurrection 1993–1995: Underground Tape and Tha Undergrxxxd Mixtape: XXL Freshman xf 1993. They came out in February and May 2012. These mixtapes honored the funk-inspired hip hop music he grew up with. Other artists like Key Nyata, SpaceGhostPurrp, and Lil Ugly Mane helped produce them. His friend Denzel Curry also provided vocals.
On January 7, 2013, he released the first part of his Basement Musik series. This mixtape included songs like "No More" with Chris Travis. A music reviewer, Colin Small, praised the mixtape. He said it was a good mix of new sounds from 2012. On July 16, he released Shut Up and Vibe Vol. 1. This mixtape featured songs like "Disrespect" with SpaceGhostPurrp. Yung Simmie also sang on Denzel Curry's song "Threatz" from the album Nostalgic 64. This song was listed as one of the top tracks of 2013 by Mike Madden of Pitchfork Magazine. In December, Yung Simmie released Basement Musik 2. This project had 16 songs and no guest singers. Producers like Trill Will, DJ Smokey, and PurrpDogg worked on it. Yung Simmie also helped produce it.
In June 2014, Yung Simmie became more known online. This happened after he released "Acrobat Freestyle." The song reached No. 11 on the Billboard Twitter Emerging Artists Chart on June 7. He then started working on his first studio album, Shut Up and Vibe 2. He released two main songs from it. "Full Metal" reached No. 8 on Billboard's Twitter Emerging Artists chart on June 28. The other song was "Thankful" with SpaceGhostPurrp. The album came out on July 7 through Raider Klan Records. It featured production by Eskay, Reazy Renegade, and DJ Smokey. Other artists like Robb Banks, Pouya, Cashy, and Denzel Curry sang on the album.
New Mixtapes and Growing Popularity (2015-Present)
On January 15, 2015, Yung Simmie released Yung Smokey. This mixtape helped him gain new fans. He was featured in magazines like XXL and Miami New Times. Before Yung Smokey came out, he released two songs: "20/20" and "Spaceship." A writer for Passion of the Weiss liked the album's production. They also noted Yung Simmie's improved lyrics. The mixtape appeared on the Billboard Twitter Emerging Artists chart at No. 31 for three weeks.
In May 2015, he worked with Raider Klan again. They released Raider Klan: The Mixtape 2.75. Yung Simmie released one song on it and sang on three others. On December 18, he released OG Smoke, a short album with 6 songs. Only Denzel Curry sang on this album. Producers like captaincrunch, HighAF, and Jay$plash worked on it.
On July 1, 2016, Yung Simmie released Simmie Season. This was the first part of his Simmie Season series. Songs like "Shoot Da 3" and "Underground King" were on it. The album helped him get a spot in Vibe magazine's list of "30 Florida Rappers You Need To Hear." He then released Simmie Season 2 in October 2016. This project included songs like "Bucks" and "Yung Bob Marley." PurrpDogg, HighAF, and Jay Splash handled the production. Yung Simmie also helped produce it.
Simmie announced on Twitter that his next project, "Big Smokey," would be released on October 3, 2017.
Yung Simmie's Music Style
According to Vibe magazine, Yung Simmie has mastered the popular cloud rap style. This style started in the Southern United States. He has become a big name in the underground music scene.
In an interview with XXL magazine, Yung Simmie shared his influences. He said Lil Wayne is his favorite artist. He also said he wants to be like Bob Marley. He hopes to "touch people with my music like he did."
