Yusuke Igawa (井川 祐輔, Igawa Yūsuke, born October 30, 1982) is a former Japanese football player. He played as a defender. He last played for the Hong Kong Premier League club Eastern. Today, he is the head coach for Hong Kong Third Division club Lansbury.

Yusuke Igawa's Football Journey

Yusuke Igawa was born in Osaka, Japan, on October 30, 1982. He started his football career early. He joined the youth team of J1 League club Gamba Osaka in 1995.

Early Career and First Teams

Igawa joined Gamba Osaka's main team in 2001. He played his first game that year. However, he did not play much until 2003. In August 2003, he moved to J2 League club Sanfrecce Hiroshima. There, he quickly became a regular player. He played as a right back. His team, Sanfrecce Hiroshima, moved up to the J1 League in 2004.

In 2005, Igawa started as a regular player for Sanfrecce Hiroshima. But he lost his starting spot in May. In July 2004, he moved to another J1 club, Nagoya Grampus Eight. He played many games in 2004. However, he played less often in 2005.

Time at Kawasaki Frontale

In 2006, Igawa joined Kawasaki Frontale, a J1 League club. He played as a central defender for many years. During his time there, Kawasaki Frontale had great success. They finished second in the J1 League in 2006, 2008, and 2009.

The club also reached the finals of other important tournaments. They were runners-up in the Emperor's Cup in 2007 and 2009. They also finished second in the J.League Cup in 2016. In 2017, Kawasaki Frontale won the J1 League title. This was their first major championship ever. However, Igawa did not play in any games that season.

Moving to Hong Kong and Retirement

In January 2018, Igawa moved to Hong Kong. He joined the Hong Kong Premier League club Eastern. He left the club in February 2019 due to a disagreement. He stayed in Hong Kong after leaving Eastern. He decided to retire from playing football at the end of that season.

Becoming a Coach

In August 2019, Yusuke Igawa started a new chapter in his career. He became the head coach of Lansbury. This club plays in the Hong Kong Third Division League.
