Yusuke Igawa (井川 祐輔, Igawa Yūsuke, born October 30, 1982) is a Japanese football player who used to play as a defender. He played for several clubs, including Gamba Osaka and Kawasaki Frontale in Japan. Later, he played for Eastern in Hong Kong. After retiring as a player, he became a coach. He is now the head coach for Lansbury, a team in the Hong Kong Third Division.

Yusuke Igawa's Football Journey

Yusuke Igawa was born in Osaka, Japan, on October 30, 1982. He started his football career early, joining the youth team of Gamba Osaka in 1995.

Early Club Career

In 2001, Igawa officially joined the senior team of Gamba Osaka. He didn't play much in his first few years. In August 2003, he moved to Sanfrecce Hiroshima, a club in the J2 League. There, he quickly became a regular player, often playing as a right back. His team, Sanfrecce Hiroshima, was promoted to the top league, J1 League, in 2004.

In 2005, he started as a regular player but later lost his spot. In July 2004, he moved to another J1 League club, Nagoya Grampus Eight. He played many matches in 2004, but his playing time decreased in 2005.

Time at Kawasaki Frontale

In 2006, Igawa joined Kawasaki Frontale, a J1 League club. This was a very important part of his career. He played as a central defender for many years. During his time there, Kawasaki Frontale finished second in the J1 League three times: in 2006, 2008, and 2009. They also finished second in the Emperor's Cup and J.League Cup several times.

A big moment came in 2017 when Kawasaki Frontale won the J1 League title. This was the club's first major championship ever! Even though Igawa didn't play in any matches that season, he was part of the team that made history.

Moving to Hong Kong and Retirement

In January 2018, Igawa moved to Hong Kong Premier League to play for Eastern. He played there for about a year. He left the club in February 2019. After leaving Eastern, he stayed in Hong Kong and decided to retire from playing football at the end of that season.

Becoming a Coach

After his playing career, Yusuke Igawa decided to become a coach. In August 2019, he took on the role of head coach for Lansbury. This club plays in the Hong Kong Third Division League.
