Yusuke Nakatani (中谷 勇介, Nakatani Yusuke, born September 22, 1978) is a former Japanese football player. He was born in Uji, Kyoto, and played as a Midfielder or Defender. He spent most of his career playing for various clubs in Japan.
Playing for Clubs
Yusuke Nakatani started his professional football journey in 1997. He joined Nagoya Grampus Eight right after finishing high school. In 1998, he became a regular player for the team. He often played as a left side-back.
He later moved to other clubs on loan. In 1999, he played for Urawa Reds. In 2000, he joined Kawasaki Frontale. After these loan periods, he returned to Nagoya Grampus Eight in 2001. He continued to play for them until 2005. During this time, he played many matches as a left midfielder and left side-back.
In 2006, Nakatani moved to Kashiwa Reysol. However, he did not play many games there. In September 2007, he moved to his local club, Kyoto Sanga FC, which was in the J2 League at the time. His new team was promoted to the J1 League in 2008, and he played many matches for them.
By 2010, he played fewer games. In 2011, he moved to Tokyo Verdy, another club in the J2 League. In 2013, he went to Thailand to play for Khonkaen. Yusuke Nakatani retired from playing football at the end of the 2013 season.
Playing for His Country
Yusuke Nakatani also represented his country, Japan. In August 1995, he was chosen to play for the Japan U-17 national team. He participated in the 1995 FIFA U-17 World Championship. He played in all three matches during the tournament, coming on as a substitute in each game.
