Yuzo Funakoshi (船越 優蔵, Funakoshi Yuzo, born June 12, 1977) is a former professional football player from Japan. He played as a forward during his career.

Playing Career Highlights
Yuzo Funakoshi was born in Kobe, Japan, on June 12, 1977. He became a professional football player after finishing high school.
Early Club Years
Funakoshi started his professional journey with Gamba Osaka in 1996. During that same year, he also played for Telstar in the Netherlands on a loan. After returning to Gamba Osaka in 1997, he didn't get to play much.
In 1999, he moved to Bellmare Hiratsuka, which later became Shonan Bellmare. He then joined Oita Trinita in 2001, where he played in many matches and scored several goals.
Mid-Career and Success
In 2002, Funakoshi joined Albirex Niigata. He was a key player for the team until 2003. After that, he played less often for the club.
He then moved to Tokyo Verdy in 2007 and played there until 2009. His final club was SC Sagamihara in 2010. Yuzo Funakoshi retired from playing professional football at the end of the 2010 season.
Representing Japan
Yuzo Funakoshi also played for his country. In August 1993, he was chosen to be part of the Japan U-17 national team. This team competed in the 1993 U-17 World Championship.
During this important tournament, he played in all four matches. He even scored a goal against the Mexico team.
