Zózimo (born June 19, 1932) was a famous Brazilian football player. He was known as a strong defender. Zózimo played for the Brazil national team. He helped Brazil win two FIFA World Cups. These wins were in 1958 and 1962.

Who Was Zózimo?

Zózimo Alves Calazães was born in Salvador, Brazil. He became one of Brazil's most important football players. He was known for his strong defense. Zózimo played as a central defender. He was a key part of the Brazilian teams. These teams won two World Cups in a row.

Early Life and Club Career

Zózimo started his football journey in 1950. He played for a youth team called São Cristóvão. In 1951, he joined Bangu, a professional club. He played for Bangu for many years, until 1965. This was the longest time he spent with any club.

After Bangu, Zózimo played for other clubs. These included Flamengo and Portuguesa in Brazil. He also played internationally. He joined Sport Boys in Peru in 1966. Later, he played for Miraflores and Águila.

Playing for Brazil: World Cup Hero

Zózimo played for the Brazil national team from 1955 to 1962. He played in 35 matches for his country. He was part of a golden era for Brazilian football. This was when Brazil became a powerhouse in the sport.

Winning the 1958 World Cup

Zózimo was a member of the Brazil squad for the 1958 FIFA World Cup in Sweden. This was Brazil's first World Cup victory. The team had many legendary players. Zózimo's strong defense helped keep opponents from scoring. Brazil beat Sweden 5-2 in the final match. This made them world champions.

Winning the 1962 World Cup

Four years later, Zózimo was again in the Brazil squad. This time, the tournament was the 1962 FIFA World Cup in Chile. Brazil managed to win the World Cup again. This was a huge achievement. Life After Playing

After retiring as a player, Zózimo became a football manager. He coached some of the clubs he had played for. In 1968, he managed Águila. He also coached Deportivo Municipal in 1973. Later, he returned to Sport Boys from 1975 to 1976. His last coaching job was with Bangu in 1976.

Zózimo passed away on July 21, 1977, in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. He is remembered as one of Brazil's greatest defenders.
