Zabardust Khan or Zabardust Khan Tanoli was an important leader from the Tanoli tribe in the Hazara region. This area was part of India in the 1700s, but today it is in North-West Pakistan. He was also known by his nickname, Suba Khan Tanoli, and he passed away in 1797.

Who Was Zabardust Khan?

Zabardust Khan was a chieftain, which means he was a powerful leader of his tribe. He lived during the 18th century, a time when there were many changes and sometimes conflicts in the region.

Becoming an Administrator

Around 1775 or 1776, Zabardust Khan was given an important job. The King of Afghanistan, Taimur Shah Durrani, appointed him as a nazim. A nazim was like an area manager or administrator. His job was to look after the upper Hazara region.

Because he was in charge of the area, many local people started calling him 'Suba Khan'. This nickname means 'area chief'. He became very well-known by this name.

A Good Leader in Tough Times

Zabardust Khan was known as a very good administrator. He lived during a difficult and sometimes violent period in history. Despite the challenges, he worked hard to help the people in his area.

He focused on keeping peace and order. He also tried to make sure that food and other important goods were available and that their prices were fair. Because of his efforts to help his community, people in the Hazara region still remember him today. Some even visit his grave to pray.

Not to Be Confused With

It's important not to mix up Zabardust Khan Tanoli with another person named Zabardast Khan. The other Zabardast Khan was a Pathan soldier who fought in a famous battle called the Third Battle of Panipat. They were two different people.
