Zacarías Ferreira is a famous singer from the Dominican Republic. He was born on October 10, 1968. He is known around the world for his bachata music. Bachata is a popular style of music from his home country.

People call him "La Voz de la Ternura," which means "The Voice of Tenderness." This is because he has a very soft and melodic voice. Some of his biggest hit songs include "Es Tan Dificil," "Asesina," and "Amiga Veneno."

Early Life

Zacarías Ferreira was born in 1968. His hometown was Amaceyes Tamboril, close to Santiago. This area is in the north-western part of the Dominican Republic.

He grew up in a family of musicians and singers. Music was always playing in his home. This made him dream of becoming a musician himself from a young age.

When he was older, Zacarías moved to Santo Domingo. This is the capital city of the Dominican Republic. There, he studied at the Conservatorio Nacional, a music school. He also sang in a local bachata group to earn money. Later, he joined the orchestra for the Brugal rum company. He played with them for five years.

Zacarías Ferreira started his bachata music career in 1997. His first album was called Me Liberé. This album won a big award in Dominican music, called the Cassandra.

Three years later, his second album, El Triste, also won the Cassandra award. Zacarías was the first bachata singer to perform at the Festival de Presidente. This is a very important music festival.

In 2001, Zacarías traveled to the United States for the first time. He played 77 shows in New York City in just six and a half weeks. In 2002, he was the first bachata artist to perform at the famous S.O.Bs nightclub in Manhattan.

Zacarías was one of the first bachata singers to mix blues and rock music into bachata. In 2002, he recorded "Amiga Veneno." This song became one of his biggest hits. It used electric guitar and special effects, which helped him become popular in Latin music.

He kept releasing successful albums every year. Many of his songs became hits. In 2019, he sang with Romeo Santos on the song "Me Quedo." This song was on Romeo's album, Utopía.

Helping Others

On August 17, 2010, Zacarías Ferreira helped open a new school. It was called Escuela Primaria de Amaceyes Arriba. He rebuilt this school with his friend Elvis Jesús Rodríguez. This shows his commitment to helping his community.
