Early Life and Musical Dreams
Zacarías Ferreira was born in 1968 in a town called Amaceyes Tamboril. This town is close to Santiago in the northern part of the Dominican Republic. He grew up in a family where music was very important. Many of his family members were musicians and singers. Because of this, Zacarías dreamed of becoming a musician from a very young age. His home was always full of music, which encouraged him to follow his passion.
When he was a young man, Zacarías moved to Santo Domingo, the capital city. He joined the Conservatorio Nacional to study music. To support himself, he also sang in a local bachata group. Later, he became a member of the orchestra for the Brugal rum company. He played with this orchestra for five years, gaining valuable experience.
Zacarías Ferreira's Music Career
Zacarías Ferreira officially started his bachata music career in 1997. His first album was called Me Liberé. This album was a big success and won a special award in the Dominican Republic called the Cassandra. Just three years later, his second album, El Triste, also won the Cassandra award. This showed everyone how talented he was.
Ferreira made history by becoming the first bachata artist to perform at the famous Festival de Presidente. In 2001, he traveled to the United States for the first time. He performed 77 concerts in just six and a half weeks in New York City. In 2002, he was also the first bachata singer to perform at the well-known S.O.Bs nightclub in Manhattan.
Zacarías Ferreira is known for bringing new sounds to bachata music. Along with other artists like Jose Manuel "El Sultan" and Lenny from Aventura, he started adding elements from blues and rock music. For example, in 2002, he recorded one of his biggest hits, "Amiga Veneno." In this song, he used a special guitar effect called "wah" and an electric guitar solo. This helped his music become popular with even more listeners.
He continued to release successful albums almost every year. These albums included many popular songs like "Dime Que Falto," "Cuanto Duele Que Te Vas," and "Me ilusioné." In 2019, Zacarías Ferreira was featured on a song called "Me Quedo" with the famous singer Romeo Santos. This song was part of Romeo Santos's album, Utopía.
