Zachary "Zach" Wright is a talented former professional basketball player. He was born on February 5, 1985, in the United States. Later, he became a naturalized citizen of Bosnia. Zach played two important roles on the basketball court: point guard and shooting guard.

Zach Wright's Basketball Journey

Zach Wright started his professional basketball career in 2007. He played for many different teams in several countries. His journey shows how dedicated he was to the sport.

Early Career in Germany and France

Zach's first team was SG Braunschweig in Germany. This was in the German Pro B league. As a new player, he quickly showed his skills. He led the league in scoring, with 24.8 points per game. He also led in steals, with 3.5 per game.

After Germany, Zach moved to France. He played three seasons in the LNB Pro A league. His teams included Élan Chalon, Le Mans Sarthe, and Limoges CSP. During his time in France, he was chosen for the French All-Star Game twice. This happened in the 2008–09 and 2010–11 seasons. He even won the slam dunk contest in 2010–11!

Playing in Greece and Croatia

In September 2011, Zach signed with Rethymno in the Greek League. He played there until March 2012. Then, he joined Cibona Zagreb in Croatia for the rest of that season. With Cibona, he helped the team win the Croatian League championship.

Adventures in Russia and Back to Germany

In July 2012, Zach signed a two-year contract with Spartak St. Petersburg in Russia. He played there for one season. After that, he moved to Germany again. He joined Brose Baskets, a team that played in the EuroLeague. He left Brose Baskets in February 2014.

Winning a Championship in Greece

On February 21, 2014, Zach joined a very strong Greek team, Panathinaikos. He played with them for the rest of the 2013–14 season. With Panathinaikos, he became a GBL champion in 2014.

Later Career Teams

After his time in Greece, Zach continued to play for various teams:

  • In August 2014, he signed with İstanbul BB in Turkey for the 2014–15 season.
  • On August 31, 2015, he signed with Union Olimpija in Slovenia for one year.
  • On March 3, 2016, he left Olimpija and joined Avtodor Saratov in Russia.
  • On August 9, 2016, Zach signed with AS Monaco for the 2016–17 season. With Monaco, he won the French League Cup twice. He was also named to the FIBA BCL Star Lineup Best Team in 2017.
  • On July 14, 2017, he signed with SIG Strasbourg in France. He won the French Federation Cup with them in 2018.
  • On September 14, 2018, he signed with JL Bourg in the French Pro A league. He played there until 2021, when he retired.

Playing for His Country

In 2012, Zach Wright became a citizen of Bosnia and Herzegovina. This allowed him to play for the senior Bosnia and Herzegovina national basketball team. He represented Bosnia and Herzegovina at the EuroBasket 2013 tournament.
