Zarqan (Persian: زرقان) is a city in Iran. It is located in Fars Province. Zarqan is the main city of Zarqan County. It is also the capital of its district. The city even has its own airport, called Zarqan Airport.

What's in a Name?
The name Zarqan comes from an old word. This word is "Zarghoon." In an ancient language called Pahlavi, "Zarghoon" meant "a place that is lush." This suggests that Zarqan was likely a very green place long ago.
Zarqan's Story
Long ago, around the year 1791, Zarqan was known for its strong mules. People would rent these mules. They used them to carry goods and for travel. This made Zarqan an important place for business. It was also key for moving things around. Historically, Zarqan was a place where important events happened.
