Discovering Zarzuela de Jadraque

Zarzuela de Jadraque is famous for its special "black architecture." This means many of its buildings are made from dark local stones like slate. These materials give the houses and walls a very distinct and traditional appearance.

A History of Pottery

Long ago, Zarzuela de Jadraque was also called "Zarzuela de las Ollas." This name means "Zarzuela of the Jars" or "Zarzuela of the Pots." The town earned this name because people there were skilled at making pottery. They used the rich local clay to create beautiful handmade pots and amphorae (large jars). You can still see the old pottery kiln, which is a special oven used for baking clay, just outside the town. It's a cool reminder of the town's past.
