Zazie Olivia Beetz (born June 1, 1991) is a talented German-American actress. She is well-known for her roles in popular TV shows and movies. You might recognize her from the comedy-drama series Atlanta, where she played Vanessa "Van" Kiefer. She also brought the lucky superhero Domino to life in the movie Deadpool 2. Zazie has also appeared in the film Joker and its sequel Joker: Folie à Deux. Kids might know her voice as Diane Foxington in The Bad Guys animated film series and as Amber Bennett in the animated superhero series Invincible.

Early Life and Growing Up
Zazie Olivia Beetz was born in Berlin, Germany, on June 1, 1991. Her father is German, and her mother is African-American from New York. Zazie grew up speaking both German and English at home. When she was eight years old, her family moved to New York City permanently. She learned to appreciate her unique background, which includes both German and African-American heritage.
Zazie became interested in acting while attending Muscota New School in New York's Washington Heights neighborhood. She performed in many community plays and local shows. She later graduated from the LaGuardia Arts High School in 2009, which is famous for arts education. In 2013, she earned a bachelor's degree in French from Skidmore College. She even spent a year living in Paris!
Starting Her Acting Journey
After college, Zazie worked different jobs before getting her big break in acting. Her career really took off when she was cast in the FX comedy-drama series Atlanta. For her amazing work in Atlanta, she was nominated for a Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series in 2018. This was a big achievement for her!
Famous Roles in Movies and TV Shows
Zazie Beetz has played many memorable characters. In television, besides Atlanta, she also starred in the Netflix series Easy. Since 2021, she has lent her voice to the character Amber Bennett in the animated superhero series Invincible.
On the big screen, Zazie appeared in the disaster film Geostorm in 2017. A year later, she joined the superhero world as Domino in Deadpool 2. Domino is a mutant with the power of luck, making her very skilled in action scenes! Zazie also played Sophie Dumond, a neighbor to the main character, in the film Joker and its sequel Joker: Folie à Deux (released in 2024).
More recently, Zazie has voiced the clever character Diane Foxington, also known as "The Crimson Paw," in the animated heist comedy film The Bad Guys (2022) and its sequel The Bad Guys 2. She also had a role in the action-packed movie Bullet Train in 2022.
Her Life Outside Acting
Zazie Beetz is married to actor David Rysdahl. They met during an acting workshop and have been together since 2014, marrying in 2023. Together, they started a production company called Sleepy Poppy.
