Zdeňka Vávrová facts for kids
Zdeňka Vávrová is a famous Czech astronomer. She has made many important discoveries in space, especially finding new minor planets and even a comet!
She helped discover a special comet called 134P/Kowal-Vávrová. At first, she thought it was just an asteroid (a small rocky object in space). She didn't see the fuzzy cloud, called a coma, that usually surrounds a comet. But later, another astronomer named Charles T. Kowal took more pictures and saw the coma. This showed it was indeed a comet!
Zdeňka Vávrová is officially recognized for finding 115 numbered minor planets. Minor planets are like small worlds that orbit the Sun, but they are not as big as planets.
An asteroid was even named after her! It's called 3364 Zdenka. This asteroid is part of the Florian group in the main asteroid belt. It was discovered by another astronomer, Antonín Mrkos, in 1984. The name was chosen to honor Zdeňka Vávrová for her 20 years of hard work helping with the minor planet program at Kleť Observatory.
