Ziad Rahbani (Arabic: زياد الرحباني, born in 1956) is a famous Lebanese composer, pianist, and playwright. He also shares his thoughts as a political commentator. Ziad is the son of Fairouz, one of the most well-known singers in Lebanon and the Arab world, and Assi Rahbani, who helped create modern Arabic music. Many of Ziad's plays and musicals use humor to talk about Lebanese politics, especially during and after the Lebanese Civil War. He often questions traditional political ideas.

About Ziad's Life
Ziad Rahbani is the son of the Lebanese composer Assi Rahbani and Nouhad Haddad, who is famous as the singer Fairuz.
Rahbani was married to Dalal Karam, and they had a son named Assi. Their marriage later ended. Rahbani wrote several songs that were inspired by their relationship, like "Marba el Dalal" and "Bisaraha".
Ziad Rahbani has always supported leftist movements in Lebanon. He has said he is a communist. In an interview, Rahbani explained that a difficult event in 1976, where many people were hurt in the Palestinian camp Tall a-Za’tar, made him move to West Beirut. He also supports the Lebanese resistance against what he calls "the Israeli occupation." Even though he comes from a Christian family, his political views have sometimes caused disagreements with people who have different ideas.
Ziad's Creative Journey
Ziad Rahbani's first known artistic work was a collection of writings called "Sadiqi Allah" (My Friend God). He wrote these when he was a teenager between 1967 and 1968. In 1973, when he was 17, Rahbani wrote his first music for his mother, Fairuz.
At that time, his father, Assi Rahbani, was in the hospital. Fairuz was supposed to star in the play Al Mahatta by the Rahbani brothers. Ziad's uncle, Mansour Rahbani, had written the words for a song about Assi's absence. He asked Ziad to compose the music for it. This song, "Saalouni El Nass" (People Asked Me), helped Ziad become known in the music world.
Rahbani first appeared on stage in Al Mahatta, playing a detective. He also acted in the Rahbani Brothers' Mays el Rim as a policeman. Ziad's first step into theater on his own was with the Bkennaya Theater in Sahriyyeh. After that, he created many plays that focused on politics. Aksam Al-Youssef, a writer, noted that Ziad quickly became a key figure in the arts. Young people especially connected with his plays, seeing them as a voice for their generation during a time of war and violence.
Besides his own plays, Rahbani also acted in the 2003 film The Kite, directed by Randa Chahal Sabbagh.
Working with Others
Before, during, and after the war, Rahbani released many albums. Some of these include Bi hal shakel, Abou Ali, Halleluja, Shareet Ghayr Houdoudi, Houdou Nesbi, Ana Mouch Kafer, Hakaya al Atfal, Bema Enno, Monodose (with singer Salma Mosfi), and Maaloumat Mush Akidi (with singer Latifa).
