Zinken Hopp facts for kids
Signe Marie "Zinken" Hopp (born January 9, 1905 – died September 3, 1987) was a talented writer, poet, and playwright from Norway. She wrote many different kinds of books, including stories about history, poems, and travel adventures. Zinken also translated children's books and reviewed plays for a newspaper called Aftenposten for many years. She is most famous for her children's books, especially Trollkrittet (published in 1948).
About Zinken Hopp's Life
Signe Marie Brochmann was born in a place called Ullensvang in Hordaland, Norway. She came from a family of writers. Her father, Diderik Hegermann Brochmann, was a journalist and author. Her brother, Odd Brochmann, also became a professor and children's writer. Her family had many people who loved to write and tell stories.
Her Writing Career
From the 1920s to the 1960s, Zinken wrote many popular articles, essays, and poems for newspapers and magazines. In the 1940s, she started publishing many books for children and young people. She also wrote books that retold old sagas and myths in a way that was easy for kids to understand.

- Norwegian History Simplified (published in 1961)
Zinken Hopp also taught art history at a school in Bergen. She was a translator too. She translated the classic children's book Alice in Wonderland by Lewis Carroll into the Norwegian language.
Family Life and Later Years
In 1932, Zinken married Einar Meidell Hopp. He worked in broadcasting and managed radio in Bergen for over 30 years. Zinken Hopp passed away in 1987 in Bergen.
