Zoé Chatzidakis earned her advanced degree, called a Ph.D., in 1984. She studied at Yale University in the United States. Her main teacher was Angus Macintyre. For her Ph.D., she wrote about a complex area of math called the model theory of profinite groups.
Later, she became a senior researcher and team leader. She worked in the Algebra and Geometry department at the École Normale Supérieure. Her research focused on two main areas: model theory and difference algebra. These are advanced parts of mathematics that deal with different kinds of mathematical structures and equations.
